Buffalo Systems began in a small Sheffield workshop, where founder Hamish Hamilton set out to make outdoor clothing that worked in real conditions rather than just looking the part. The result was the Double P system: a windproof, breathable Pertex outer paired with a fibre pile lining, worn next to the skin as a single layer. It moves moisture away from the body, keeps the wind out, sheds showers and dries fast, so there's no need to pile on layer after layer.
Tested where it matters
Over the decades, Buffalo kit has been trusted by climbers, walkers, mountain rescue teams and outdoor professionals, from Scottish winters to the Alps. The Mountain Shirt, our original Pertex and pile design, won the Outdoor Writers' Guild Golden Boot award in 1986, and it's still at the heart of the range today.
