We design and manufacture premium outdoor clothing and equipment that empowers adventurers to embrace the elements.
With a legacy of innovation and craftsmanship, our products are meticulously engineered to perform in the harshest conditions, ensuring warmth, comfort, and durability when it matters most.

The Birth of a Revolution
Buffalo Systems was founded by Hamish Hamilton, a passionate outdoor enthusiast who wanted to transform the way people experience the elements.
Drawing inspiration from the principles of layering and the needs of climbers, walkers, and adventurers, Hamish introduced the world to the Pertex® and pile system.
This revolutionary combination of fabric and insulation redefined outdoor performance. Suddenly, staying warm and dry was no longer about bulk or layering up endlessly—it was about smart, functional design.

Built to Last
This system didn’t just change clothing; it changed lives. Climbers scaled new heights. Hikers traversed longer paths. Explorers ventured further into the unknown. Buffalo became a trusted companion for those who dared to embrace the extremes.
When we say "built to last," we mean it. Every Buffalo garment is designed with meticulous care and crafted with durability at its core. These aren’t just clothes; they’re investments in adventures yet to come. From the cutting table to the final stitch, every detail is considered, because we know that when you’re battling the elements, it’s the little things that make all the difference.
Before sustainability became a buzzword, Buffalo Systems was already committed to creating products that endure. By designing clothing that lasts for decades, we help reduce waste and minimize the impact on our planet. It’s a philosophy rooted in respect: respect for the outdoors, respect for the craft, and respect for the people who wear our gear.
Call us stubborn, but there are some things we just won’t compromise on.

We’ll always seek out the most technically advanced fabrics for our clothing.
We’ll always design for function, rather than fashion. And we’ll only ever include features that actually make our gear work better in the worst weather conditions. Maybe that’s why so many serious adventurers choose Buffalo equipment for their personal journeys.

Of course, we still take our stuff apart regularly.
Sometimes we might even make a few changes. But only where we’re convinced it’ll make a real difference, not because it’s this season’s must-have. For us, warmth, protection and unfailing performance will always be in. And in this respect, we’ll never budge.

We are proud of our workshop in Sheffield.
And are happy to keep alive the heritage of British manufacturing. The reason we only produce here is simple, we can constantly control and refine our processes ensuring our production is superior.
