Exceptional outdoor performance starts with exceptional materials.

That’s why Pertex® is at the heart of many of our products. But what is Pertex®, and why has it become a trusted name in performance fabrics for adventurers, mountaineers, and outdoor enthusiasts worldwide?

Hamish Hamilton Camping in a Tent

The Origins of Pertex®.

Born in the late 1970s, Pertex® was the result of a ground-breaking collaboration between Hamish Hamilton, the founder of Buffalo Systems, and Perseverance Mills, a specialist in high-performance fabrics. Hamilton’s vision was simple yet revolutionary: to create a fabric that could wick moisture while remaining lightweight, durable, and versatile. The result was Pertex®, a technical fabric that redefined outdoor clothing.

Over the decades, Pertex® has evolved into a family of advanced textiles, each designed to meet the demanding needs of outdoor adventurers. From the original Pertex® Classic to modern iterations like Pertex® Quantum and Pertex® Shield, this fabric continues to push the boundaries of lightweight performance.

Pertex® Applications.
